TRADITION & HISTORY

The Iribar are an elite class of warriors trained to master the tsumgir (tsuum-GEAR), a large blade native to the nation of Shaxia. Created to guard the Shaxian monarchy, the Iribar train rigorously from childhood in the art of tsumgir, as well as literature, art, and the worship of Asarta, the god of conflict. Thus, the majority of Iribar carry a strong moral code throughout their lives, following the Iribar teachings of loyalty, respect, ethics and self-discipline.

Despite their strong moral code, this class has a dark history. Upholding a frightening legacy involving the Umun, the Iribar embrace the darkness and death that form the very crux of the Umun and Asarta himself, believing that they must absorb the darkness in order to control it. Their tsumgir blades carry the darkness of every heart they have slain, and their ability to teleport in battle with speed and devastation comes at a price - every teleportation is a flit through the world of the dead, often causing great mental and emotional strain to inexperienced Iribar. As they increase in their skills through training, many Iribar grow in their resistance, however some will forever carry a taint, a certain madness, in their soul.

RELATIONS

When the monarchy opened its doors for the Getsu, most of the Iribar left their posts behind on the grounds of honour. Finding themselves trusted less and the monarchy affording the Getsu every status and luxury, the Iribar refused to abide and stand for a monarchy that no longer represented the Shaxian kings of old. They believed that the Getsu were dangerous and sought only to seize the crown. Cast aside and their warnings against the Getsu unheeded, the Iribar structure crumbled. This caused a mass exodus of the Iribar, with many choosing to wander Zioa in search of new lives and professions.

This exodus introduced the rest of the world to this dark and fascinating class, and they are often viewed with fear and respect, due to their high mobility and overwhelming skill with the blade.

The Gongbaku (gong-bah-KUU)

Literally translating to "The Dragon that Eclipses", the Gongbaku are a radical group that aims to kill the Getsu in order to reclaim their place beside the Shaxian throne and to purge Shaxia completely of all traces of the Lost Kings. They seek to achieve this goal by aggravating other Zioan nations to spark war against the nation of Shaxia, believing that if pushed, the Shaxian monarchy will do all in their power to bow to the Iribar - or, in more extreme cases, to completely annihilate the monarchy and replace it with their own.
