TRADITION & HISTORY
Seh Dem-Hara (seh-DEM-huh-RUH)
Literally translated to Brother Battle, Seh Dem-Hara is the professional standing army of the Ruaj. Their roots can be found in the ancient legions once fielded by the early kings of Parthas. The Legions were more a form of offensive defense than a tool of conquest. They secured the Ruaj’s borders, and deterred potential threats. With the rise of the Eskatonic church, however, the military system was reworked. Around thirty five percent of the Ruaj military now march beneath the banner of Seh Dem-Hara. They are trained, funded, and equipped by the Church rather than the Crown. They are also heavily indoctrinated.
The soldiers of Seh Dem-Hara lead an almost monastic life. They are soft spoken, disciplined, and slow to anger. In combat, however, their officers whip the soldiers into a religious fervor, driving them to completely devastate their enemies. They are typically deployed as vanguard, or shock troops, leading the charge in a military engagement and demoralizing the enemy.

RELATIONS
The Ruaj have a history of tenuous relations with magical races outside the Salqanam, but despite this, the nation's kings and queens have attempted to maintain peace treaties and trade with the other races of Zioa. The rise of the Eskatonic church, however, has put great strains on these long held agreements.
At the very best, the Eskatonics regard the other races as heretics and blasphemers. At the worst, they view the others as demonic and unnatural. The Church has been putting a lot of pressure on the ruling body to break all contact with the magical races and make treaties with their Salqanam brethren alone. More information here.
